It is a one-way text messaging and email system, where all personal information remains completely confidential. Teachers do not have to collect or see student phone numbers, and students do not see the teacher’s phone number either.
- App is free to use and available on both iOS (phone or iPod/iPad) and Droid platforms. Students do not need a smart phone, only a device that receives texts.
- Email is also available as a receiver if text is preferred/not available.
- Remind 101 provides widget feature which allows you to embed your texts into your own website (my widget is embedded below as an example. This allows students to see your messages in multiple places.
- Can create up to 10 class groups per account, with unlimited subscribers per class.
- PDF sign up instructions are available in both Spanish or French.
- Teachers can text from desktop or mobile device.
- Messages are limited to 140 characters, however multiple messages can be sent.
- Can use recipient's data- standard messaging rates apply, so if recipients do not have unlimited texting on your cell phone's data plan, they might be charged for each text message.
- Some students/parents will be excluded from these messages, due to a lack of access to technology. Car must be taken to ensure these are also communicated with in an alternate way.
